“It was unfortunate. That was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters seated near me,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply put up the wrong finger,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got corrected rapidly.”
