Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
